Apple Lowers Watch Price by $50

Today, Apple lowered its entire collection of Apple Watch Sport and aluminum Apple Watch models by $50. Now, 42mm Apple Watches sell for the same price as what 38mm Apple Watches previously sold for, while the 38mm models are simple $50 cheaper.

The move to make Apple Watch more financially accessible will promote sales of the device, which is already the number one selling smartwatch in the world. Increased incentives to buy the Apple Watch, such as this price drop, represent Apple’s effort to grow the product out of the accessory category the product is sometimes perceived to fall into. As with the original iPhone, price drops will make the Apple Watch a ubiquitous product.

Today, B&H Photo, a popular electronics store in New York City, started selling select Apple Watch models online and in its retail store. The store carries four different Stainless Steel Apple Watch configurations, including the Space Black color in 38mm and 42mm with a black Sport Band. Also sold at B&H Photo is the regular Stainless Steel color with a white Sport Band, Product (Red) Sport Band, and Milanese Loop.

In addition to Stainless Steel Apple Watches, B&H Photo started carrying all aluminum Apple Watch Sport sizes and colors with Midnight Blue, Antique White, Stone, Blue, and Lavender Sport Bands. Customers can also purchase Apple Watch charging cables from the store.

Apple has rapidly expanded its Apple Watch reseller network in the past months, making it easier for customers to find Apple Watch and accessories available for purchase. While allowing resellers to sell Apple Watch makes it easier for customers to find Apple Watch in an area near them, the best Apple Watch buying experience remains at Apple Stores, where customers can try-on several different Watch models and choose the Watch that best fits their personal needs.

Best Buy to Sell Apple Watch in all 1,050 Stores

Screen Shot 2015-08-25 at 11.39.13 AMToday, Best Buy announced it will expand its Apple Watch sales by adding the product to all of its 1,050 stores by the end of September. This development comes after Best Buy’s plan to sell Apple Watch in just 300 stores by the holiday season. As a result of extreme Apple Watch sales success, Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly announced the company will not only expand Apple Watch availability to all Best Buy stores, but also upgrade the 740 Apple store-within-a-store displays at participating Best Buy locations. These new displays will feature more display tables to make room for additional products, like the Apple Watch.

While Apple has created doubt about Apple Watch sales success by not releasing sales figures, Best Buy’s quick decision to sell Apple Watch at all of its stores indicates strong sales of the device.

Apple Watch Edition Delivery Process

Apple Watch Delivery Confirmation

Today, I received my shipping confirmation for the Apple Watch Edition. I ordered the $17,000 gold 38mm Apple Watch with a Red Modern Buckle on April 10th and got a May delivery date. The gold Watch will arrive on Friday, May 29th. While it is late late March, Apple fulfilled it’s delivery date promise. After I received the shipping confirmation, an Apple Watch Edition specialist contacted me by phone to confirm all the delivery details. The Edition team allows customers to choose specified a specified date, time, and location for the delivery to take place. Also, they inform customers of the business casual clothing the courier will be wearing at the time of the delivery. After the Watch is delivered, customers can call the Edition team for a personal setup in the comfort of their own home. Overall, the Apple Watch Edition team offers an increased customer service experience than Apple’s regular sales team by offering clear and personalized service.

Review: Apple Watch Try–On Experience

Apple-Watch-pre-orders-Details-3-720x406

Yesterday, Apple began allowing the public to try on Apple Watches in its retail stores. Display tables with Apple Watches under a glass cover allow customers to view all Watch collections and configurations up close. To actually try a Watch on, customers make an appointment on the Apple website. The appointment reservations are similar to reserving a Genius Bar. Simply log into the reservation webpage with your AppleID and select the time you want to try on the Apple Watch.

When I arrived at the Apple store yesterday, I was greeted at the door and asked for my name and reservation time. The sales associate instructed me to wait for someone to guide me through the Watch experience. In just a minute, a sales person met me and guided me to a try-on station. The try–on stations feature black leather table pads that make the Apple store seem more luxurious and suitable for selling wearables. Alongside the leather table pads are portable Apple Watch displays. The displays incorporate an embedded iPad that highlights the features of each Apple Watch app as the customer explores them on the Watch.

After we arrived at the try–on station, the salesman asked me which Apple Watches I wanted to try on. Once I told him my interest in the Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch with leather loop, he retrieved the Watches from a drawer that contained many different Watch configurations. Looking into the drawer shows how many different case and band formats customers can choose. The sales person then put the Watch on my wrist and complemented the way it looked in conjunction with my outfit. This was the first time I ever received fashion advise in the Apple Store and it sounded completely natural in the context of the Watch.

The Apple Watch itself felt incredible well constructed. Although the try–on models only let customers see the Watch features through a demo, the video still allows people to feel how the Watch delivers notification with the Taptic Engine. For example, when the Watch receives a message, it feels like a tap on the wrist. The Sport Band and Leather Loop I tried on were comfortable and good looking.

Overall, my Apple Watch try–on experience was very good. Apple did a great job transforming its stores to sell luxury watches. While I wish Apple would allow more freedom to explore the Watch features than a software demo, I came away from the experience with an increased understanding of how the Watch will enhance my life. I recommend everyone makes a reservation to go see the beautiful Apple Watch in person!
