Apple released iOS 8.2 on March 9th with a slew of bug fixes and the new Apple Watch companion app. Although Apple revealed the Watch companion app, the previously announced Activity app did not appear in the update. An iOS developer discovered the app within the software and posted screenshots of the software. The Activity app does not show up on iPhone home screens until users pair an Apple Watch with iPhone. Once paired, the Apple Watch shares walking, exercise, and stand data with the iPhone so users can view the information in a more leisurely manner on their iPhone. A history tab shows past activity data on a calendar so users can compare their day to day performance. The app also includes an achievements tab that shows achievements users earn for being active. Activity is part of Apple’s strong health and fitness push for the Apple Watch and will inspire people to live healthier lives.
Today, TechCrunch reported Amazon is creating an app for Apple Watch. The app will allow users to search and purchase products using voice recognition and 1-Click. With quick and easy interactions, the Amazon Apple Watch app will be the easiest way to buy merchandise from the online store. Having the ability to buy anything from the Apple Watch in ten seconds will revolutionize the shopping experience. Users will no longer have to take time out of their day to buy the things they need. While its unclear when Amazon will launch their Watch app, an Amazon representative confirmed the company is “committed to being anywhere customers want to shop. That includes watches.”
